Do you realize that God has a wonderful
plan and purpose specifically for YOUR life? Psalm 139 relates how God
knew us from the foundation of the world, while we were yet unformed in
our mother's womb. He has numbered our days, and He knows our rising up
and lying down. He is that intimately acquainted with us, so why shouldn't
He have a wonderful plan for our lives?
Verse 3 of the Psalm tells us that He has charted our course (or path)
ahead of us, and He tells us when to stop and rest. Our dilemma is this:
quite often we don't listen when He tells us to stop and rest. We continue
on, and suffer the consequences of having not listened.
We must understand that even in the midst of the storm, He knows where
we are. He did not lose track of us in the dark, or in the waves. The
night is like the day to Him, so we were not hidden from His view.
If the Word says that His eyes run to and fro in all the earth to see
whose heart is bent toward Him, then we should have confidence that He
watches over us. Do you realize that sometimes He even SENDS you out into
the storm? Jesus sent His disciples out into what became a stormy sea
while He prayed on the mountain top. And in the night watch, He walked out
to them on the stormy waters, and came to them in their fear. He knew it
was going to storm and rage around them, but He sent them across the sea,
none-the-less. While they toiled all night on the oars, getting nowhere,
He knew where they were. While the waves were showering the boat, and
filling its bilges with water, He knew they were there. The lasting truth
is this: He came to them in the midst of the storm that He had sent them
into, and together, they all made it across the sea to the other side.
Jesus sent Paul to preach to the gentiles. He knew that Paul would be
imprisoned, and uncomfortable in many ways. Never-the-less, He sent Paul
into these places, because people heard the Gospel message and were saved.
Without a willing Paul, these people would have gone into eternity, lost
and sin-ridden.
Jesus still has a purpose for each one of our lives. He came to save
and redeem people from their sins, and its penalty. As Paul wrote, "how
can they hear without a preacher, how can they be saved without the Word
of God?" Jesus plan for our lives is that we do His will, speak to the
unsaved, get them into a place to worship Him, and embrace the unsaved and
unchurched with the Good News of Salvation's redeeming power.
YOU are key to that plan. He has sent you, He knows all about you, and He
will keep watch over you, as you share His plan of salvation with those
who are tender toward the Lord at this time. —Rev. Gary Leary
